Fueling is important

When you fuel your body may be just as important as what you fuel it with.
A lot of the conversation around fueling is always around the quality of the food. Everyone talks about getting grass fed beef or growing your own vegetables or getting fresh vegetables from the grocery store. You need to pay top dollar for food or you’re going to be unhealthy.
That couldnt be further from the truth. A calorie is a calorie. Now, there are levels of quality when it comes to calories but a calorie of fat is the same as a calorie of protein just like a hundred pounds of feathers is the same as a hundred pounds of bricks. One will hurt more if dropped on you but the weight is the same.
We’re all different people as well. I have trouble processing dairy. Some people have trouble processing gluten. Some people have trouble processing fibrous vegetables or red meat. So, in that respect, they’re different.
I’m here to tell you, however, that you do not need to shop at whole foods to be healthy. When it comes to being healthy, your first thought should be getting lean. If you can focus on getting lean then your body will naturally get healthier.
To get lean, you need to do these two things:
Resistance training. This sort of training can be many things. Body weight exercises or weight lifting or yoga or anything that causes your muscles to work.
Consume less calories than you burn. The calories can literally be from one meal or spread out over the day. As long as you’re burning more calories from living and working out than you’re consuming, you’ll get leaner.
Now, early I said that a calorie is a calorie. Thats true.
I challenge you to track your calories for one week to see how much you eat. Once you see how much you really eat, you’ll be able to tailor your eating around your life.
Dont focus on what you’re eating as much as how much you’re eating. For that week, dont worry about staying below a certain amount. Just eat like normal. You will find that those of us that arent trying to compete on the stage and get super lean dont need to worry about if the food is organic or flash frozen or fresh or whatever is “healthy” these days. What we need to worry about is not over-eating. Not ingesting a crazy amount of sugar over fiber.
You’ll find that just reducing the amount of food you eat will make you feel better.
