Too much too soon

Its the first of the year. You’re excited. You’ve resolved to workout 5 days a week at the gym where you’ve been paying for a membership for years. You’ve been talking to friends about this and they say they’re going to cut sugar out of their diet so you go with them and say that cant hurt to do as well!

How many people have done that? You’re getting into the healthy lifestyle but you’ve jumped head first into the deep end without taking a swimming lesson.

I’ve been in the fitness world for over a decade and I can tell you that January is the worst time of the year. I’ve been working out non stop that whole time and I know that the first week of January to about March, the gym will be full. Its not that I dont like seeing new people there and I’m extremely happy that they’re there working out to make a better version of themselves but I know it wont last.

People do too much too fast.

The reason you fail everytime, is because you do too much. You want to maximize your health and not only be more physical than you’ve ever been which will require more food but you also want to go on an elimination diet which will remove food. Over all, you’ll be hungry, have low energy, in a bad mood, and tired all the time.

You cant jump to the end.

Like I said, I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and I still have to watch what I eat and make sure that I’m staying physical.

A good way to start your journey to a healthy lifestyle is follow the below bullets. This is in particular order but some good advice for making this achievable.

  • Keep it simple. You dont have to over complicate everything for it to be effective.

  • Make your goals achievable. Generally, people make these goals that are very not achievable by people who have been doing it for a while so you’re definitely not going to be able to do it. Then, when you can achieve your goals, you get discouraged and you quit.

  • Be consistent. Consistency is what drives a healthy lifestyle. Go to the gym at the same time every day. Eat at least one meal that is the same every day.

If you incorporate these 3 things into your life, you’ll see a lot of progress. If you’re wanting more information on how to do this in your own life, please contact me on any of my social media pages or from the contact page on my website!
